One analogy I love about the process of recovery from an eating disorder (and applies to other coping mechanisms as well) is that of a labyrinth.

You see, unlike a maze, a labyrinth does not have any dead-ends. At times, it may feel like you are going backwards. You may feel like you are having “setbacks” and “regressing," but you are actually still moving to find your center. You cannot un-know some of your “aha moments.” You cannot forget the things you have learned about yourself and your ways of coping. You may revert to previous mechanisms and behaviors, but you are still on your path. Together, we will find the way to reach that center.

My approach to therapy

I approach therapy from a client-centered, integrative perspective. I will tailor the therapy to meet your needs, and help you achieve your goals. I draw from Dialectical Behavior Therapy (involving mindfulness, emotion regulation, and interpersonal effectiveness), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, systems theory, psychodynamic and emotion-focused modalities.
