Welcome to my practice! If you have found my website, you are probably sick of the thoughts that go through your head when you walk past a mirror. Or the thoughts you have when you finish a meal. Or maybe you long for a time when you don’t feel so burdened by the constant and unrelenting stream of “do this, not that!” that plays all day, every day, inside your own head. You have probably tried to turn off these thoughts on your own, but that sneaky little voice always finds its way back in. There may even be part of you that doesn’t want it to go away.

Jumping in to therapy can feel overwhelming. You think things like: “What if I’m the only person who has felt this way, or done these behaviors? I don’t want to admit to some of the things I do. I have to do these things in order to be good enough. What if my therapist thinks I’m crazy? Or worse, what if she sees the real me and that person is not good enough? What if I have been to therapy/treatment before and now it seems like I am a failure for needing to go again? What if part of me is scared to change?”

Trust me: all of the above feelings and thoughts are normal. You are taking a big jump to dive in and challenge your thoughts and your behaviors. It is normal to feel ambivalence around change.

To answer some of the above questions: I can assure you, you are not the only person who has felt this way. I will not think you are crazy! (Trust me, after many years of doing this, I have heard it all). What if you are good enough, right now, without the behaviors? You are not a failure if you have been to treatment before and feel like you are “going backward.” (See my approach to treatment for more on this.) And yep, change can be super uncomfortable. But we will work on it together.

So take a look around. See if I am the right fit for you, and if so, reach out so we can get to work!
